Joko ruvennen runolle
ilman kirjatta ilolle,
vaikka oikein en osanne
tehä virttä viisahasti
selitellä selvemmästi.
Laulan lapsen tavalla
vierettelen vienoisasti
ajan kultaisen kuluksi
                                                      lapsirahvahan ratoksi.

This is what we did during the music workshop! The teacher Oula Mommo made us read and sing that ancient folk-song. The tradition of kansanruno or regivärss is the same in both Estonian and Finnish culture.
As creation creates creativity, we started to make the modern version together; and this is the result of the Finnougrian modern folklore:

Ma ärkasin täna Ruskas

Mina tulin tänään koulun
Tulin tänään pyöräll´koulun.

Tore olla Taivalkoskil
Tutustua ystäviimme
Palju sõpru palju rõõmu
Soittaa laulaa kavereina

Koulussa me opiskeltiin.

At the end of the music class we sang together first Joko ruvennen runolle and then what we had created ourselves. No matter if the author comes from the past or is sitting here right now- everyone can create kansanruno today!
Rock bands like folk-lore and use it in their music - so is Metsatöll well-known in Estonia and Korppiklaani in Finland.
